Fanning Park

Well before the war memorials were installed, this piece of land was owned by Enoch Baker. Born in 1974, Baker fought in the American Revolution, serving in the regiment that announced the surrender of the British Army to Congress. The veteran lived on East Main Street (in a house built in 1791 that still stands today) and owned a farm. What is now Fanning Park was a part of Baker’s farm.
